Position Summary : Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

 General Job Purpose 

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer must be able to apply engineering principles for the analysis, design, and testing of mechanical products.

 Reviewing specifications and other data todevelop mechanical layouts, create solutions,which can range from small component designs to large-scale systems. 

Will have the chance to work on all stages of product development, from the early research, development and design to the design transfer and market launch. 

 A. Job Responsibilities: 

 1. Carries out detailed mechanical design, simulation and design verification testing, asrequired.

 2. Responsible for 2D detailing with GD&T and DFM 

 3. Responsible for coming up with innovative solutions using links, bar mechanisms, gears, pulleys, motion transmission systems etc. 

4. Develop prototypes and conduct tests to evaluate the performance, durability, and safety of designs. Analyze test results and make necessary adjustments to improve functionality and efficiency. 

5. Responsible for performing thermal, stress, structural & vibration analysis 

6. Responsible for mechanical part design with material selection taking into considerationobsolescence, availability and cost

 7. Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and instructions. Ensure that all documentation is accurate and up to date.

8. Work closely with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to understand requirements, resolve issues, and integrate designs with other systems or components.9. Responsible for preparing and presenting mechanical designs at design reviews 

10. Ensures design files and information are kept up to date, and stored in accordancewithdepartmental procedures 

11. Highlights all mechanical technical risks to the Reporting Manager 

12. Keeps up to date with the latest manufacturing techniques and drawing standards

 13. Follows departmental processes relating to management of designs

14.Responsible for Quality Control 

15. Responsible for meeting design to cost figures

 16. Responsible for carrying out design change requests in a timely manner 

17. Ensures the mechanical design output fits in with all other aspects of the design

18. Work closely with operations, manufacturing and production engineers to ensureproducts are designed and manufactured efficiently..Responsible for reporting progress of all assigned tasks to the Reporting Manager andProject Management teams 

20. Undertaking research 

21. Testing and measuring the performance of products 

22. Designing and implementing systems to improve efficiency and sustainability

23. Keeping up to date with the latest design standards

 24. Responsible for generation of Assembly drawings with Bill ofMaterials 

25. Responsible for Design Transfer to Production 

26. Ensure Designs and product functionality meets the Regulatory Requirements 

27. Design, Assembling and Testing of Automated Jigs

4. Good communication skills, dealing with other employees and external clients

Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering with equivalent experience

 Experience

 1. Mechanical Design 

2. 6-8 years of experience in a similar role 

3. Autodesk Fusion 360, solid works experience desirable 

4. Familiarity with technical specifications, data sheets
