Job Title: Estimator, Scheduling & Quantity Takeoff Specialist
Position Overview: The Estimator/Scheduler/Quantity Takeoff Specialist at AEIS LLC will be responsible for
preparing accurate cost estimates, schedules, and quantity takeoffs for materials testing and inspection
services, supporting bids, and assisting with project budgeting. This position also requires close coordination
with project managers, field staff, and clients to develop, monitor, and adjust project schedules, ensuring that
deadlines and resource allocation are optimized to meet project demands. This role requires close
collaboration with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure that estimates and manpower
schedule projection align with client specifications and AEIS standards. This role involves interpreting plans,
performing detailed measurements, and working with project teams to support bid preparation and project
planning. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, technical expertise, and experience in the
estimation, scheduling and quantity takeoffs of multiple projects simultaneously, contributing to the efficiency
and success of AEIS’s service offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
● Prepare detailed cost estimates for engineering and construction projects, including materials,
labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
● Participate in pre-bid and project meetings to clarify takeoff needs and verify scope requirements
for materials testing and inspections.
● Analyze project plans, specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine project
scope and requirements to perform detailed project phases, quantity takeoffs for materials testing
and inspection services and prepare bid packages/proposals, ensuring competitive timelines and
detailed cost analysis.
● Maintain a comprehensive record of takeoff data, updating as necessary with project adjustments
or scope changes.
● Develop and maintain a database of cost information, including historical data, unit costs, quantity
take off and industry benchmarks for reference on future projects.
● Monitor and update cost estimates as project requirements change, market trends, or new
information becomes available and present detailed cost estimation reports to management.
● Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
● Coordinate with project management teams to support accurate cost projections and resource
planning and gather necessary information for accurate estimation and timely completion of
projects.
● Assist in resource forecasting and capacity planning to balance workloads and meet client
expectations.
● Work with clients to accommodate special scheduling needs and adjust timelines as required by
contract terms.
● Track key project schedule milestones and generate regular schedule reports to keep teams
informed.
● Conduct risk analysis and identify factors affecting cost and profitability.
● Assist in the preparation of project budgets, schedules, and cash flow projections.
● Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
● Participate in bid review meetings and present cost estimates to management.
● Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Skills & Qualifications:
● Knowledge of construction and inspection project workflows and timelines.
● Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
● 2+ years of quantity takeoff and estimating experience, preferably within the materials testing,
inspection, or construction industries.
● 2+ years of experience in quantity takeoff software (e.g. Bluebeam, PlanSwift, etc.).
● 2+ years of scheduling experience, preferably in construction or materials testing industries.
● Proficient in estimating software, Excel, and project management scheduling software and tools
(Primavera P6, MS Project, AutoCAD, etc.).
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
● Strong mathematical and analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy in cost
calculations.
● Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and specifications.
● Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to work both independently and
collaboratively with project teams and clients.
● Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, materials testing cost structures and
industry standards.
● Experience with cost estimation software and databases.
● Strong organizational and multitasking skills with understanding of project management principles.
● Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to anticipate and resolve scheduling conflicts.
