Job description

Position Overview:


The Project Manager – EPC (Solar) will be responsible for end-to-end management, execution, and delivery of solar power projects (Rooftop and Ground Mounted) within defined timelines, quality, safety, and budgetary parameters. The role demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and cross-functional coordination skills to ensure successful project implementation from design through commissioning and handover.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Execution

  1. Lead overall project execution from inception to commissioning for solar EPC projects (Rooftop / Utility-scale).
  2. Develop detailed project schedules, milestones, and resource allocation plans using project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
  3. Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions.
  4. Ensure all activities adhere to project timelines, cost targets, and quality standards.

2. Engineering & Design Coordination

  1. Review and approve design, engineering drawings, and technical documentation from design teams or subcontractors.
  2. Coordinate between design, procurement, and execution teams to ensure seamless information flow.
  3. Ensure technical compliance with regulatory norms, industry standards, and client specifications.

3. Procurement & Vendor Management

  1. Collaborate with the procurement team for sourcing of solar modules, inverters, structures, cables, and other balance of system (BOS) materials.
  2. Evaluate and finalize vendors/subcontractors based on technical and commercial criteria.
  3. Monitor delivery schedules, ensure timely availability of materials, and manage logistics coordination.

4. Site Management & Construction Supervision

  1. Lead site execution teams and ensure adherence to approved drawings, safety standards, and QA/QC procedures.
  2. Conduct regular site inspections and progress reviews.
  3. Resolve technical and operational issues promptly to avoid delays.
  4. Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of solar plants.

5. Budget & Cost Control

  1. Prepare and monitor project budgets, cash flows, and cost control measures.
  2. Track project expenditures and ensure all financial targets are met.
  3. Generate periodic project cost reports and variance analyses.

6. Client & Stakeholder Management

  1. Act as the single point of contact for clients for all project-related communications.
  2. Conduct client meetings, present project progress reports, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  3. Coordinate with government authorities, DISCOMs, and other stakeholders for statutory approvals and clearances.

7. Quality, Safety & Compliance

  1. Ensure implementation of quality assurance and control processes at all stages of the project.
  2. Monitor compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards.
  3. Conduct toolbox talks, safety audits, and risk assessments on-site.

8. Documentation & Reporting

  1. Maintain detailed project documentation including contracts, drawings, BOQs, and progress reports.
  2. Prepare and submit weekly/monthly project status reports to management and clients.
  3. Document lessons learned and support continuous improvement initiatives.


Experience:

  1. Minimum 7+ years of experience in managing solar EPC projects (rooftop or ground-mounted).
  2. Proven track record of executing solar projects of at least 50 MW+ cumulative capacity.
  3. Hands-on experience in vendor management, budgeting, and project scheduling.
