Job description
A Furniture Fitter assembles, installs, and sometimes repairs various furniture (cabinets, beds, office units) at homes or businesses, using hand/power tools to follow blueprints, ensuring quality finish, proper fit (hinges, drawers), and client satisfaction, while maintaining tools and a clean workspace. Key duties involve reading plans, fitting parts precisely, performing adjustments, handling materials, and adhering to safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly & Installation: Assemble and install diverse furniture (modular, custom, office) following drawings, blueprints, and instructions.
- Tool Operation: Safely use hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment (drills, saws, sanders).
- Precision Fitting: Measure, cut, trim, and fit components like doors, drawers, handles, and worktops for snug, accurate placement.
- Quality Control: Inspect for stability, alignment, finish, and functionality; make adjustments and repairs as needed.
- Site Management: Prepare work areas, move furniture, load/unload trucks, and clean up debris.
- Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand needs and report progress.
Essential Skills & Requirements
- Experience in furniture fitting, carpentry, or similar trade.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measurements.
- Physical fitness for lifting and standing.
- Attention to detail for high-quality finishing.
- Good time management and communication skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and tool maintenance.
