Job Description – Linux & Network Administrator Company Name: Altius Customer Service Pvt. Ltd. Industry: BPO / IT-Enabled Services Job Role: Linux & Network Administrator Employment Type: Full-Time Job Summary Altius Customer Service Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a skilled Linux & Network Administrator to manage and maintain our Linux-based server infrastructure and network environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring system uptime, network security, and smooth IT operations supporting BPO business processes. Key Responsibilities Linux Administration Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, Debian). Perform routine system monitoring, log analysis, and basic troubleshooting. Manage users, groups, permissions, and access controls. Handle file system management including disk partitions, mounting/unmounting, and storage monitoring. Manage system services using systemctl (start, stop, enable, status). Monitor system performance and processes using tools like top, htop, ps, and kill. Apply security patches and updates using package managers (apt, yum, dnf, rpm). Network Administration Monitor and manage network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points. Configure and support basic network services such as DHCP, DNS, NAT, and VLANs. Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity and performance issues. Ensure network availability and performance monitoring. Implement and maintain basic firewall rules and access control policies. Support secure connectivity using protocols like SSH and HTTPS. Required Skills & Technical Knowledge Linux Skills Strong hands-on experience with Linux distributions: Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, Debian. Proficiency in package management (apt, yum, dnf, rpm). User and group administration (useradd, passwd, chmod, chown). File system and disk management. Process and service management. Networking Skills Good understanding of IP addressing, subnetting, CIDR notation. Knowledge of public vs private IP addressing. Basic routing concepts (static routes, default gateway). Switching fundamentals: MAC addresses, ARP, broadcast domains. VLAN configuration and concepts. Familiarity with common protocols: DHCP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, SSH, SNMP. Network troubleshooting using tools like ping, traceroute, ip, ifconfig, netstat, nslookup. Preferred Qualifications Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field. 1–4 years of experience in Linux and network administration (BPO/IT services experience preferred). Basic knowledge of network security and firewall configurations. Ability to work in a 24/7 support or shift-based environment (if required).
