The Business Development Lead will act as the primary growth engine for the GIS, IT, and e‑Governance practice. Reporting to the Head of Sales, the role is responsible for shaping market entry strategies, driving revenue pipelines, and securing high‑value contracts with central, state, and local government bodies as well as public sector undertakings. This position requires a blend of strategic vision, hands‑on bid management, and strong leadership to guide multidisciplinary teams through complex procurement cycles.
Key responsibilities include the creation of sector‑specific business plans that align with government priorities and policy frameworks. The Lead will conduct thorough market analysis, identify emerging opportunities, and translate insights into actionable outreach programs. By establishing a robust pipeline of qualified leads, the role ensures a steady flow of proposals that meet the stringent technical and compliance requirements of public sector tenders.
Managing the end‑to‑end bid process is a core function. The Lead will oversee opportunity qualification, develop compelling solution narratives, coordinate pricing strategies, and ensure timely submission of all required documentation. Close collaboration with solution architects, product managers, and delivery leads is essential to guarantee that proposals are technically sound, financially viable, and tailored to the specific needs of each client.
Leadership responsibilities encompass building and nurturing a high‑performing pre‑sales and bidding team. This includes recruiting talent, defining clear performance metrics, providing coaching, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Lead will also work with the Customer Success group to transition won contracts into successful project delivery, ensuring client satisfaction and laying the groundwork for future upsell and cross‑sell opportunities.
Stakeholder management is critical in the public sector context. The Business Development Lead must cultivate strong relationships with senior officials, procurement officers, and policy influencers across ministries, departments, and state agencies. Regular engagement, thought‑leadership activities, and participation in industry forums will help position the organization as a trusted partner and preferred vendor.
In addition to direct sales activities, the role will explore strategic alliances with technology partners, system integrators, and consultancy firms. By leveraging complementary capabilities, the Lead can expand the solution offering, increase market reach, and enhance competitive advantage.
Ideal candidates will possess a minimum of nine years of experience in business development or sales within the GIS, IT, or e‑Governance domains, with a demonstrable track record of winning government contracts. A strong educational background in engineering, computer science, geography, or a related discipline is required, along with excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. The ability to manage multiple complex opportunities simultaneously and deliver results under tight deadlines is essential.
This role is based in Hyderabad and follows a six‑day work‑from‑office schedule. The organization offers a collaborative environment, exposure to large‑scale public sector projects, and opportunities for professional growth within a fast‑moving technology landscape.
