Job description

Role Overview: The Vice President – Manufacturing will be responsible for end-to-end leadership of manufacturing operations across facilities, driving operational excellence, cost efficiency, quality, scalability, and compliance. This role owns manufacturing strategy, capacity expansion, process standardization, and performance delivery aligned with business growth objectives. The VP will lead plant heads, factory managers, and central manufacturing functions to ensure best-in-class execution across production, quality, supply chain coordination, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: 1. Manufacturing Strategy & Leadership  Define and execute the overall manufacturing strategy aligned with company growth, margin, and scale objectives.  Lead multiple factories / manufacturing units through Plant Heads and Factory Managers.  Build a high-performance leadership team with strong accountability and governance.  Drive manufacturing readiness for new categories, designs, and volumes. 2. Production & Capacity Management  Own production planning, capacity utilization, and throughput across units.  Ensure on-time delivery, optimal manpower deployment, and efficient shift planning.  Lead capacity expansion, new factory setup, and line balancing initiatives.  Monitor and improve key KPIs: output, yield, rework, downtime, and productivity. 3. Quality, Compliance & Risk Management  Establish robust quality standards and audit mechanisms across all manufacturing units.  Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory, safety, and industry requirements.  Drive zero-defect mindset and reduction in rejection, rework, and customer complaints.  Implement SOPs, best practices, and internal controls for precious metal handling. 4. Cost, Efficiency & P&L Ownership  Own manufacturing cost structures including labor, wastage, consumables, and overheads.  Drive continuous cost optimization without compromising quality or delivery.  Improve metal loss control, recovery processes, and inventory turns.  Partner with finance to manage budgets, forecasts, and unit economics. 5. Process Excellence & Digital Enablement  Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process improvement initiatives.  Standardize processes across factories for scalability and predictability.  Drive ERP / MES adoption for real-time production tracking and decisionmaking.  Implement automation and technology upgrades where relevant. 6. Supply Chain & Cross-Functional Collaboration  Work closely with Design, Merchandising, Procurement, QA, and Logistics teams.  Ensure smooth handover from design to production and production to dispatch.  Support NPD launches with speed, feasibility, and cost optimization.  Align manufacturing priorities with sales forecasts and business plans. 7. Talent Development & Culture  Build strong succession plans for critical manufacturing roles.  Develop training frameworks for artisans, supervisors, and engineers.  Foster a culture of discipline, ownership, safety, and continuous improvement.  Drive ethical practices and strong governance across factories. 8. Vendor Management: Build and manage strong relationships with key vendors and contract manufacturers to ensure consistent quality, cost competitiveness Key Metrics (Illustrative):  Production output & capacity utilization  On-time delivery (OTD)  Cost per gram / unit  Yield & metal loss  Rejection & rework rates  Inventory turns  Safety & compliance metrics Qualifications & Experience: Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering  MBA / Operations Management preferred Experience:  12+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership roles  5+ years in senior leadership (Plant Head / GM / VP level)  Strong exposure to multi-unit operations and scaling factories
