Job description

A laundryman (or laundry attendant/steward) is responsible for processing linens, garments, and textiles by sorting, washing, drying, folding, and pressing them to meet hygiene and presentation standards. They operate industrial machines, treat stains, maintain inventory of detergents, and ensure equipment is clean and functional.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

1. Fabric Care: Sorting laundry by color, fabric type, and washing method; treating stains before washing.
2. Machine Operation: Loading, unloading, and cleaning washers and dryers.
3. Finishing: Folding, ironing, or steaming clothes and linens.
4. Inventory & Maintenance: Maintaining inventory levels of supplies and performing minor, routine maintenance on laundry equipment.
5. Logistics & Quality Control: Inspecting items for quality, checking for stains, and tracking items to ensure they are returned to the correct owner.
6. Sanitation: Keeping the laundry area clean and organized.
