Job description

Role Overview We are seeking a commercially strong Banking Relations Manager - Commercials & Payments to manage end-to-end banking and payment partner relationships for our B2B travel business. This role will focus on optimising payment and banking commercials, managing settlements and escalations, and enabling scalable, compliant payment infrastructure in coordination with finance, product, and operations teams. Key Responsibilities Bank & Payment Partner Management ● Manage strategic and operational relationships with partner banks, payment gateways, card networks, and other payment service providers. ● Act as the primary point of contact for negotiations, issue resolution, periodic reviews, and new product discussions with banking and payment partners. ● Coordinate onboarding of new banks, accounts, and payment partners as business requirements evolve. Commercials & Cost Optimisation ● Own and negotiate commercials across: ○ Card MDR (credit/debit) ○ UPI and net banking charges ○ Payout fees and settlement costs ○ RTGS / NEFT / IMPS charges ○ Account maintenance and banking fees ● Review monthly bank and payment partner statements to identify cost leakages, deviations from agreed terms, and savings opportunities. ● Drive corrective actions and periodic re-negotiations to optimise overall payment costs. Settlements, Reconciliation Support & Risk ● Work closely with finance and reconciliation teams to ensure timely settlements across banks, payment gateways, cards, and UPI. ● Support resolution of settlement variances, commercial disputes, chargebacks, and related escalations with banking and payment partners. ● Provide high-level oversight and inputs to reduce settlement risks and operational dependencies. Product & Process Enablement ● Coordinate with product and tech teams on implementation and optimisation of: ○ Payment gateway integrations ○ Virtual accounts and APIs ○ Payout products ○ Escrow or guarantee structures (where applicable) ● Support standardisation and improvement of banking and payment workflows to enable scale and control. Compliance & Documentation ● Ensure all commercial agreements, SLAs, rate cards, and addendums with banks and payment partners are properly documented and updated. ● Support finance and compliance teams in aligning banking and payment setups with regulatory and internal policy requirements. Cross-Functional Coordination ● Work closely with finance, receivables, payables, operations, and tech teams to align banking and payment structures with business needs. ● Provide inputs on banking and payment considerations during: ○ New product launches ○ Agent credit programmes ○ Changes in business or settlement models Skills & Competencies ● Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders at banks and payment partners. ● Solid understanding of banking products, payment gateways, cards, UPI, net banking, settlement cycles, and fee structures. ● Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel for analysing statements, commercials, and savings scenarios. ● Ability to manage multiple partners, track action items, and close issues within defined timelines. ● Clear communication, stakeholder management, and strong documentation discipline. Qualifications & Experience ● Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related field (postgraduation in Finance is a plus). ● 6-12 years experience in banking, payments, or finance roles. ● Prior exposure to B2B services, travel, airlines, online platforms, or highvolume transaction environments preferred. ● Experience either on the corporate side (payments/commercials) or within a bank/payment company handling similar clients is an advantage.
