Senior Designer (Furniture)

Job description

Job Summary:
The Senior Designer - Furniture will play a pivotal role in the Product Development department, focusing
on designing and developing innovative furniture products in line with market trends and business
needs. The role involves close collaboration with the Product Development team lead, vendors, and
factory teams to ensure the successful creation and manufacturing of furniture products.
Key Responsibilities:
1.   Study and understand the existing range of furniture products offered by Durian across various
categories.
2.   Design and develop inspiring and innovative furniture products to align with seasonal concepts,
market trends, and customer/business requirements.
3.   Collaborate closely with the Product Development team lead to translate trends and concepts
into practical designs that meet business objectives.
4.   Develop designs from initial concept through Prototype approval, including completing product
specifications, costing, and CADs.
5.   Work with vendors and the sourcing team to achieve target costs, maintain product quality, and
ensure timely sample completion. Communicate and document all sample details effectively.
6.   Conduct in-house testing on samples and troubleshoot technical issues to ensure compliance
with Durian Product Standards.
7.   Assist in the development process through daily communication with the sourcing/purchase
department, vendors, and factory Product Development Team.
8.   Coordinate prototype presentations and organize prototypes for review and approval.
9.   Manage the initial manufacturing process during the first order, including verifying all Product
Information Sheets (PIS) and photo samples before sending them to the Durian Warehouse.
10. Conduct pre-production meetings with vendors and Durian Quality Assurance to ensure the
smooth transfer of approved sample details into manufacturing. Supervise the first pilot run
with Vendor and Durian QA.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
    Bachelor's degree in Product Design or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
    Certified 2D & 3D Designer from Autodesk.
    Minimum 5 years of experience in product development within the furniture industry (both
indoor and outdoor).

    Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D & 3D, Microsoft Office suite, and other relevant design software.
