Job Summary
The Quality and NPD Specialist in Aerospace is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance
processes and driving the development of new aerospace products. This role ensures that new
products meet the stringent requirements of the aerospace industry and aligns with customer and
regulatory standards. The specialist will work closely with cross-functional teams including
engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure product excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Assurance:
Develop and implement quality assurance strategies and processes for new aerospace
products.
Conduct thorough inspections and testing of new products to ensure compliance with
industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
Identify and address quality issues and non-conformities throughout the product lifecycle.
Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality issues and improve
product quality.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
2. New Product Development:
Participate in the design and development phase of new aerospace products to ensure
they meet quality and performance standards.
Work closely with engineering teams to understand product specifications and design
requirements.
Conduct risk assessments and reliability testing to validate product performance and
safety.
Support the development of prototypes and coordinate testing and validation procedures.
Ensure that new products comply with aerospace regulations and customer requirements.
3. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain comprehensive documentation related to quality processes, testing results, and
product development activities.
Prepare and present reports on quality metrics, product performance, and development
progress to stakeholders.
Ensure proper documentation of compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
4. Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements in both quality assurance and product
development.
Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance product quality and
development efficiency.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence within the team.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with various departments including engineering, manufacturing, and supply
chain to ensure seamless product development and quality management.
Facilitate communication and collaboration between teams to address quality concerns
and development challenges.
Act as a liaison between customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure alignment on
product requirements and quality expectations.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality
Assurance, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of [X] years of experience in quality assurance or product development within
the aerospace industry.
Proven experience with quality management systems and standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO
9001).
Experience with new product development processes, including design, prototyping, and
testing.
Skills:
Strong understanding of aerospace industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, Six Sigma, root cause
analysis).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with crossfunctional teams.
Certifications:
Relevant certifications such as Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, Certified Quality Engineer
(CQE), or equivalent are advantageous.
Additional Information
Occasional travel may be required for supplier audits, customer meetings, or industry
conferences.
