SQL Database Tester

We are seeking a highly skilled Database
Tester who are very strong on SQL with 3-5 years of experience. The
ideal candidate will be responsible for testing the design, development, and
maintenance of our databases.

They will ensure that our databases operate
efficiently and meet the required performance benchmarks while maintaining data
integrity.

The SQL Database Tester will play a key role
in identifying and solving any database-related issues, ensuring high-quality
standards in database functionality, and optimizing database performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Test Planning and Strategy:

  • Develop test plans and strategies for database testing projects.
  • Understand business requirements and transform them into testable scenarios.

• Test Case Development:

  • Write and maintain SQL queries to validate database functionality.
  • Develop test cases for data validation, including data migration, data transformation, and data accuracy.
  • Create automated scripts for data testing where applicable.

• Test Execution:

  • Perform data validation and integrity checks using SQL queries.
  • Test database procedures, triggers, and functions to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Execute performance tests to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in the database.
  • Test data migrations, data mapping, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.

• Defect Reporting and Tracking:

  • Identify defects and inconsistencies in the database.
  • Report and track defects using bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
  • Collaborate with developers and database administrators to resolve issues.

• Performance Testing:

  • Conduct database performance and load testing.
  • Monitor database performance and report on any issues that impact overall performance.

• Compliance and Security Testing:

  • Ensure that databases comply with company policies and security standards.
  • Conduct tests to validate data protection and privacy measures.

• Documentation:

  • Document test procedures, results, and any necessary test data.
  • Maintain records of test outcomes, defects, and resolutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience in writing complex queries.
  • Familiarity with database testing tools (e.g., SQL Server Management Studio, TOAD, Oracle SQL Developer).
  • Understanding of database architecture, indexing, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and data warehousing.
  • Experience with performance testing and database benchmarking.
