Job Summary:

The Logistics Officer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the logistics operations of the organization, ensuring the efficient movement and storage of goods. This role involves managing transportation, inventory, and distribution processes to meet customer demands and optimize operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Logistics Coordination:

    • Manage the day-to-day logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
    • Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
  2. Inventory Management:

    • Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate records of stock.
    • Implement inventory control procedures to minimize excess stock and reduce costs.
  3. Shipping and Receiving:

    • Oversee shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accuracy in order fulfillment and documentation.
    • Handle any discrepancies in shipments and work with relevant parties to resolve issues.
  4. Cost Optimization:

    • Analyze logistics costs and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Negotiate contracts with carriers and suppliers to secure the best rates and services.
  5. Compliance and Safety:

    • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
    • Conduct regular audits of logistics processes to ensure adherence to best practices.
  6. Data Analysis and Reporting:

    • Maintain logistics metrics and generate reports on performance, costs, and efficiency.
    • Use data to inform decision-making and improve logistics operations.
  7. Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with other departments, including procurement, production, and sales, to align logistics strategies with business objectives.
    • Provide training and support to logistics staff as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • years of experience in logistics or supply chain management.
  • Strong understanding of logistics software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, WMS).
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with project management and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of import/export regulations and compliance.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
